From soccer and cricket to walking, basketball and outdoor exercise, Miller Reserve in Manly Vale is planned to support a wider range of recreation through a $2 million upgrade.
The four-hectare reserve at the corner of Campbell Parade and Condamine Street is used throughout the year, primarily for soccer and cricket. Proposed improvements would make more of the site available for organised sport while adding facilities for people using the reserve outside scheduled games and training.
Plans include upgraded natural playing fields, improved drainage and irrigation, renewed cricket facilities and changes to the sportsfield lighting. A basketball half-court, outdoor fitness equipment, picnic shelters and a 700-metre pedestrian loop would also be introduced.
More Room for Sport at Miller Reserve
The existing natural fields would be reconfigured to make more efficient use of the available space and provide additional junior fields.
A new irrigation and drainage system is proposed across the reserve to help playing surfaces recover more quickly following wet weather. The improvements are intended to reduce closures and allow the fields to remain available more consistently during the year.
Cricket facilities would also be renewed, with upgraded wickets and new practice nets included in the plans.
Changes to the LED sportsfield lighting would support evening games and training while allowing space for another playing field. The fixtures would be designed to meet the National Light Pollution Guidelines for Wildlife.
New Options Beyond the Playing Fields
The proposed additions would broaden the activities available at Miller Reserve beyond soccer and cricket.
A new basketball half-court would provide space for casual games, while outdoor exercise equipment would add another option for physical activity. These facilities would sit alongside the reserve’s existing skate park.
A 700-metre pedestrian pathway loop is also proposed, creating a defined route for walking around the site. Improvements to pedestrian access would accompany the new pathway.
New picnic shelters would provide places for people to sit and spend time at the reserve between games, training sessions or other activities.
Together, the planned facilities would allow the site to accommodate organised field sports, cricket practice, basketball, skating, exercise, walking and informal recreation within the same precinct.
Community Feedback on Draft Designs
The project is supported by a $2 million grant announced in July 2026.
Community members are expected to be invited to comment on the draft designs in the coming months. That process will provide an opportunity for feedback before the plans are finalised.
Work at Miller Reserve is expected to begin during the 2027–28 financial year.
